Every two years the WWVQG prepares a quilt to raffle as a fundraiser. Funds raised are used to help cover the expenses of the Guild projects. The 2011 quilt is titled Valley Icons. The 95 x 95 inch quilt features silhouettes of the various iconic items from the Walla Walla Valley. The quilt was designed and quilted by Marlene Oddie at Kissed Quilts. The log-cabin blocks were paper-pieced by many members of the Guild using fabrics in the tans and greens found throughout the Valley during the various seasons of the year. Icon silhouettes were created by Eddie Walker and appliqued to the quilt. The quilt was assembled by Becci Lund, and hand finished by LeeAnn Riley. Audrey Campbell attached the hanging sleeve. The quilt, completed early in 2011, will be displayed through November 2011 in various locations in the Walla Walla Valley and at nearby quilt shows, as well as other events. The winner will be drawn at the monthly Guild meeting December 13, 2011. |
